Bryan Ruby: Winter Blogging is Coming

Summer is a distraction. While promises of consistent blogging are easy to make here in South Dakota when temperatures are below freezing, the true test of a blogger is spending time in front of the computer when the warm sunny skies of summer are on us. The successful blogger is one that posts consistently and routinely throughout the year. The ideal blogger puts the readers first before himself or herself. Regular readers of my blog already know this but for the record let me state it anyway, I'm not that blogger.

Boye 19 Brooklyn: The Digital Leadership Conference

It has been a couple years since I personally promoted a conference through my websites and perhaps even longer since I've attended a conference. This was not an intentional decision by me but simply a recognition that in the past couple years I didn't find a conference I found worthy to promote. After awhile talks covering topics such as content management, digital strategy, and collaboration become noise so over time my interest in conferences waned. Then all that changed last week when Janus Boye contacted me to remind me that's he's rebooted his company and bringing his conference back to the USA.

I'm Using Twitter's New Web Interface

A week ago Twitter offered to upgrade my Twitter account (@socpub) to a new design for its Web Interface. For the most part, I've been viewing the revamped interface via the Chrome browser through a Windows 10 PC. After intense use of the new interface this past weekend, I have to say so far so good. In fact, I have no real complaints about the changes Twitter has made...which is highly unusual for me when it comes to social media.

Bryan Ruby's Last Google Post

Last weekend, I submitted my last Google+ post. From here on out, I won't be actively monitoring the platform given the expected demise of Google+. This is what I posted:

This is likely my last Google+ post but I don't plan to delete my Google+ account until February 28, 2019

Unless something significant happens, I don't plan to post again on Google+. It doesn't seem logical to invest my time and effort to post something we all know will be deleted in a couple months. I may leave a comment here or there on G+ but that's about it.

The 2019 Plan

Several months ago, I announced a plan to spend less time on socPub and focus my attention elsewhere. I'm now making a few tweaks to that plan as I've decided that through 2019 I will be first publishing all my original articles though my blog, bryanruby.com. Through the year, I will cross-post relevant articles here at socPub but managing this website will not be a priority for me.
