Survey: Spending increase in tech by IT producing technology drift

London, UK; 29th March 2022: Technology spend for IT decision makers has increased by an average of 43% since the pandemic began, with 62% also experiencing technology drift in their company. That’s according to Orbus Software, a leading provider of cloud solutions for digital transformation, which surveyed IT decision makers across the US and UK to determine the increased financial demands of the pandemic.

The most common reasons for increased spending were revealed as onboarding new technology to support working from home and hybrid working (71%), rising technology costs (69%), and the introduction of new IT regulations (56%).

Report: Enterprise Software Mergers and Acquisition Soars Post-Pandemic

The latest Enterprise Software M&A [merger and acquisition] report from Hampleton Partners, the international M&A and corporate finance advisory firm for technology companies, reveals that transaction volume grew 12 per cent between 2020 and 2021, from 1,450 deals to 1,629 deals in 2021. Total disclosed transaction value amounted to $114 billion, the second highest on record.

Hampleton’s report also registered that Enterprise Software deals are growing larger, with a total of 21 transactions closing at over $1 billion in the second half of 2021.
