Full site editing arrives with WordPress 5.9

 This week WordPress 5.9 was released. As was hinted in the BuddyPress 10.0 article, the most anticipated new feature in this new version of WordPress is full site editing. The Site Editor is a new feature to WordPress that allows block editor users to build their entire site with blocks. Unfortunately, full site editing is only available to content creators that are using a Block theme specifically designed to take advantage of the new feature.

CIOs spending more time on innovation than ever before

London 26th January, 2022: CIOs are spending more time on innovation, with three quarters stating they have increased innovation efforts, according to the 2021 Global CIO Survey from Logicalis, a global provider of IT solutions. The study, which questions 1,000 CIOs from around the world, finds that despite a strong focus on innovation, just 27% of CIOs describe innovation as part of their company culture.

Report: Digital Commerce mergers and acquisitions market will remain white-hot in 2022

London, UK – 25 January 2022. Hampleton Partners’ Digital Commerce M&A report reveals that sector M&A growth is at all-time high. The sector signed over 2,317 deals in 2021, a 34 per cent increase on the 1,725 deals closed in 2020, and a 65 per cent increase on 2019 figures.

Hampleton’s report also highlights $400 billion in disclosed transaction value across the sector in 2021, including $140 billion in the second half of 2021 – 21 per cent of which can be attributed to the take-private of buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) solutions provider Afterpay by payments company Square for around $30 billion.

BuddyPress 10.0.0 for WordPress Released

BuddyPress 10.0.0 "La Pino'z" is the first major release of 2022 for the WordPress plugin. Endpoint Malware and Ransomware Volume Exceeded 2020 Totals by End of Q3 2021

19 January 2022 – Endpoint malware and ransomware detections surpassed the total volume seen in 2020 by the end of Q3 2021, according to researchers at the WatchGuard Threat Lab. In its latest Internet Security Report, WatchGuard also highlights that a significant percentage of malware continues to arrive over encrypted connections. While zero-day malware increased by just 3% to 67.2% in Q3 2021, the percentage of malware that arrived via Transport Layer Security (TLS) jumped from 31.6% to 47%. WatchGuard’s data shows that many organizations are not decrypting these connections and therefore have poor visibility into the amount of malware hitting their networks.
