Which CMS should I focus on next?

I list exactly 30 different content management systems at my site under the "CMS Focus" banner here at CMSReport.com.  My list does not necessarily include the top CMS out there, but those CMS that I currently find of interest.  A few of the applications I currently list have dropped off my radar scope and no longer impress me as a CMS I want to spend my time taking about.  So I'm currently looking at replacing a few of the CMS I have listed with other applications.

If you had the power to add a CMS I currently don't have listed, which CMS would that be?

Quoting IT: Mark Shuttleworth, Ubuntu Linux

"In the digital world, I think we have the inverse effect, where something that is shared can become more valuable than something that is closely held, as long as it is both shared and contributed to by everybody who is sharing in it."

- Mark Shuttleworth, Founder of Ubuntu Linux; Excerpt from "The Grill: Mark Shuttleworth", Computerworld, June 11, 2007

Search, Zen, and Zengine

Here at CMSReport.com, I use a slightly modified version of the Zen theme.  Jeff Robbins is currently working on expanding his ideas via a series of default templates and variables added for the PHPTemplate engine.  This work is currently under the project name Zengine.  Lullabot.com recently underwent a new site design using Zengine and I guess there has been a number of comments for the site's new search tab.   Lucky for us, Mr. Robbins has decided to share with us how to code in the search tab.

Same version of mojoPortal supporting once again .Net and Mono

Since most of the Web applications I run these days is on PHP I will fully admit that I don't know much about .Net and Mono applications.  However, I can recognize good news when I hear that it.  mojoPortal under a new version number can once again support more both the .Net and Mono platforms.  For developers and users of mojoPortal, life just got a little simpler.

Version 2.2.2.8 of mojoPortal was released this week and not only introduces the return of Mono support but additional features as well:

Summer Schedule

I just spent the day with my son hiking along the trails of a nearby state park.  My son is only 3 1/2 so some of the the sights, sounds, and smells are still new to him.  Those trails I've walked a hundred times also becomes new to me when I allow myself to see it all through his eyes.  I left the cell phone in the car and the only modern tools we carried were our walking sticks which were found and left in the woods we traveled.  It was a good day for both of us and the experience served as a reminder to me the value of taking a break from IT now and then.

For the rest of this summer I will be turning it down a notch on the number of posts that are placed on the "front page" here at CMSReport.com.  You shouldn't notice a difference in quality, but I suspect some of you may miss the quantity of new posts.  While we do schedule the time for when a post or excerpt is placed on the front page, by choice we do no automation when it comes to the placement of excerpts on the front pages.  In other words, for an article to make the front page...I need to be sitting at the computer and that's not going to happen as often during the summer months.

If you really want to help, create an account today and start contributing your own CMS stories here at this site.  Even suggestions for links to other articles is appreciated.

CNET: American Conservatives and Technology

Interesting observation by Karl Rove as well as good commentary by Charles Cooper.

In an illuminating interview published in the June 4 issue of The New Yorker, White House political aide Karl Rove suggested that a nexus exists between the spread of technology and a centrist-conservative outlook on the world.

"There are two or three societal trends that are driving us in an increasingly deep center-right posture," Rove told the magazine. "One of them is the power of the computer chip. Do you know how many people's principal source of income is eBay? Seven hundred thousand."
