Study Finds That Tech Fails People Every Week

Monday, 22nd January 2018: Nearly one in two people say technology fails them once a week or more, a new study commissioned by CRITICAL Software has revealed.

The OnePoll survey of 2,000 people also found that only half of people think the tech in their lives is properly tested before being sold, despite 98% stating that the reliability of the tech they use is important.

95% of people say that having technology properly tested by industry experts is important – much more than those who stress the importance of the brand behind the tech (73%), where it was purchased (70%), or where it was made (61%).

Here is a fun fact. I've never lived more than 363 miles from home. To be exact, outside of my college years, I've always lived exactly 363 miles from my childhood home in Kansas City, Kansas.

My first job after graduating college landed me a job at a Weather Service Meteorological Observatory in southwest Kansas. My apartment was 363 miles away from my parents' driveway. A couple years later, my next job took me to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To my surprise, on the first visit from Sioux Falls to Kansas City I found that I added exactly 363 miles my truck's odometer.

DevOps adoption accelerates but laggards risk being left behind, according to new Redgate research

Cambridge UK, Thursday, January 11, 2018 – Organizations are increasingly turning to DevOps within their development and database teams according to the 2018 State of Database DevOps Survey, conducted by Redgate Software with SQL Server professionals. 82% of the 700 organizations surveyed say they have either already adopted DevOps or plan to do so in the next two years, up from 80% in 2017. Over half (52%) have already implemented DevOps process on some or all of their projects, a jump from 47% last year.
